G1-2 ESL Update

This week in G1 ESL, we followed up on last week's lessons about feelings and sentences. Students again talked about their feelings and shared about things they were excited or happy about. As it turned out, one class had at least three students with piano concerts this weekend, so they were very excited to share!

Once we finished talking, students worked to write down what they had shared. I gave them an example with three sentences and purposely made mistakes for them to catch and correct. They then used the example to help them write their own stories.

G2 did a similar lesson to G1, but with more advanced discussion and topics, which required a more in-depth use and understanding of English. Students had to imagine what it would be like to play hide and seek with a giant, describe what they would do and why, and give interesting details. We talked about using words like, 'could' and, 'would' to talk about 'if' questions, used past tense, and worked to use more interesting details and vocabulary. As with the G1 lesson, students first shared out loud and discussed their ideas before writing down their stories.
